1st September 1886 - William Lambie, son of Robert Reid Lambie and Mary Best, is born in Duntocher, Dumbartonshire.

1st September 1889 - Claude Lambie scores 2 goals for Burnley in a 3-2 home win against Darwen.

1st September 1896 - Patrick Boylan signs for Woolwich Arsenal FC. Plays that afternoon against Rossendale FC in a friendly match, winning 4-0 at Plumstead.

1st September 1917 - John Weir scores in a 5-0 Third Lanark win over Queens Park at Cathkin Park in front of a crowd of 10,000.

2nd September 1892 - Claude Lambie plays well in an 0-8 loss to Royal Arsenal for the Highland Light Infantry in a friendly match at Plumstead.
